TRAVELS: Cebu, Philippines

Cebu is a province which is part of the Visayas, Philippines. This is actually where my mother originated. She is a true blood Cebuana. So every now and then, I got to see Cebu when I was a child but only just recently, had the chance to explore when me and my friends went to Cebu.

Cebu is known for its variety of food such as Danggit (Dried Fish), Dried Mango, Lechong Cebu and its product, Guitar..Aside from the flavors, the scenery in Cebu was breath taking. It's heritage can also be seen on the churches and monuments..

We only had a day and a half to explore Cebu since most of our time was spent exploring Bohol (it's neighbor province) so we literally tried to maximize our so little time to see some of the tourist spots in Cebu.

Pictures can do justice to what I'm trying to say so here it is!

Magellan's Cross:  A Christian Cross planted by Spaniards and Portuguese by the explorer named as Ferdinand Magellan who arrived in Cebu on 1521. ( Philippine History).

Magellan's Cross Chapel

Philippine Taoist Temple: This temple is open for worshipers and non-worshipers. Taoism is the religion that follows the teachings of the ancient Chinese philosopher. This temple is so solemn, that pictures inside the temple is not allowed. Tourists like us were only allowed to take pictures outside.

Me and my friends in front of Taoist Temple. Nobody is allowed to create noise once you entered the temple as a sign of respect. Also, those who wear shorts.skirts and sleeveless are not allowed to enter. Thus, I was not able to enter that temple :-(

Having a mother who is a Cebuana is something I am really proud of. Cebu is just one of a kind. Maybe that's why this is called the "City of Smiles" since you can really see the people are so friendly and they were like smiling all the time. This is truly an experience that I will never forget. Hope to be back someday!

Come and Visit Cebu! It's more fun in the Philippines!!

Love Vanessa
